Associate Initiatives

If you’re looking to build on the skills you’ve gained at the Enterprise Gym, either to develop your career or start a business, there is a lot of support available from our associates.

University of Dundee Careers Service
The work we do here at the Enterprise Gym complements that of the University Career Service and we work together to promote the work of the Enterprise Gym throughout all subject areas at the University of Dundee.

The Careers Service ensures appropriate references and links are made to The Enterprise Gym in order to both encourage and highlight the benefits of student participation with particular emphasis on the benefits of Enterprise Gym activities to the CVs of participating students. As part of this recognition, the skills gained at The Enterprise Gym may be used as evidence of extra-curricular learning and development qualifying the student for the Dundee Graduate Skills Award.

DUSA
DUSA is the main representative and social organisation for students at the University of Dundee. Through association with Enterprise Gym and the Young Entrepreneurs Society, DUSA aims to assist students wanting to learn more about enterprise, entrepreneurial skills, and industry.

DUSA also offers a range of opportunities for students, including volunteering placements and the chance to get involved with student representation and support, clubs, and societies. The student media team also allows students to gain experience in fields such as design, web media, publishing, TV, and radio.

The Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE)
SIE’s mission is to encourage and help more Scottish students successfully create and grow new businesses, social enterprises and self-employment opportunities. Through our national network of student interns, enterprise managers and regional business advisors they provide a programme of activities and events to encourage and support entrepreneurial activity.

SIE works with all nineteen of Scotland’s universities, across the full range of subject disciplines, and provides support and mentoring to help students discover their entrepreneurial talent and set up their own ventures.

Generic Skills Dundee

Generic Skills Dundee offers access to carefully tailored workshops, seminars, and on-line training to support Post-Graduate research students and Post-Doctoral research staff in developing their transferable skills to help them become more efficient and effective in their research, and assist them with professional and career development and progression.

The Greenhouse
The Greenhouse, located at the centre of the main campus in the award winning Queen Mother Building, is a business pre-incubator facility for students and staff of the University of Dundee who wish to explore starting their own business.

Greenhouse residents are provided with a fully equipped office space including telephone, fax, networked computer and printers – rent free for 6 months – plus business advice and support.

Enternships
Enternships is a service that connects students and graduates with start-ups and small businesses who are looking to take on new staff via work experience and full time roles. The Enterprise Gym has no previous experience of this organisation and as such does not endorse them.
